Gigaku from Tenkanraku-hoka-Gigakufu @ Kunaicho-Shoryobu


Authentically, Gigaku was played with short flute, percussion and small symbal. This one is arranged for Biwa which is traditional lute. It has some notes for flute, too.

This one was researched by Kenzo Hayashi.

It has 9 short pieces. The order is different to the other one.

  1. Shishi / 師子
    This one is Lion dance. The music is very different to local lion dance in Mie prefecture.
  2. Gokou / 呉公
    Gokou means the king of ancient Go dynasty. The dynasty had buddhism.
  3. Kongou / 金剛
    This is one of the savers of buddhism.
  4. Karura / 迦楼羅
    Bird monster.
  5. Konron / 崑崙
    Slave of african. The ancient china used slave at least in 9c.
  6. Rikishi / 力士
    This is the other of the savers of buddhism.
  7. Baramon / 婆羅門
    Brahman. In the ancient India, This religion dominated people.
  8. Taiko / 大弧
    Old man who believe buddhism
  9. Suiko / 酔胡
    Drunken King and its subbordinate in west asia.
