Before painting

I needed riding new bike. I had never ridden such type of recumbent bike. So I have to discover the way to ride and pedaling, etc.
After I ride new recumbent designed by myself, I'm very tired. Especially my neck becomes hard. It causes headache and dizziness. It makes me to lost positive feeling.
By attaching headrest, I hope such headache and dizziness will disappear.
I'm not sure what makes me to be easy to be tired.

Cover for head rest

The last one doesn't work enough. While I was riding, it fall down. So I improved it.

My sewing skill isn't high. This time, I tried to make the new cover based on 3 dimension design.

I'm not sure whether Velcro or button is needed. It fits cushion well.

Head rest cover

This is too easy way.

Velcro strap is used.
The cloth is canvas.
Today, front deraileur becomes available.

I rode about 20 km with this bike today. Turning isn't easy.
The handle may be changed to straight one.

Making seat cover

The cushion is weak to the sun light. So the cover is needed for it.
I used canvas cloth.
At first, I made pattern paper.

Then I cut cloth.

Sewing, cutting cushion, put it in the cover.

I use Velcro to attach it on the seat.

I can't say this cover is good. The thickness of the cloth is too thick, I think. If thin canvas is used, it's enough.

Improving seat made from tubes

The frame of my pink python 's seat is bent by tension of PP belt. So I added one more tube to reinforce.

The iron tube which diameter is 12mm is weak to support my weight 76kg.

Making head rest 2

I tried making head rest again. The first one has thin tube. Metal lathe is needed to make it.
This time I used 90 degree angle instead of it.

Cramping to weld.

Welding narrow small parts on iron rod.

We need to think the direction of the gravity.

At last, I made it. I have to find screws.

Making head rest

I don't say this is good. Because the tube to be passed through by screw bolt is too thin.

I have to find the other idea.

Making stay for cycle computer

Before that, I welded tube to handle. So the part is held became thick.





Then, a fillet was welded to center part.


At last, I made stays for cycle computer and the sensor.




I have to make head rest as, next job.

Trying riding

I tried riding my new recumbent.
This is a movie after 15 minutes.

Then, This one is after 30 minutes.

I noticed it needs a bumper for the front. I made it.

In this evening, I tried riding for about 2 km. I could do it.
Today's setting.

Making stay for brakes

I use V brakes for this bike. The forks are wider for them. I need making stays for them.

Then taking and welding.

I forgot attaching spacer between dropouts. So the width became narrow.

The opposite side of fork to boss of V brakes got incision. By welding it, the end width becomes wide.

This is for rear.Then next is for front.

I used wrong tube for front deraileur. The diameter 28.6 mm. 31.8 mm is needed. I welded wider tube on the narrower tube.

At last, I have started installing bike components.

Next sunny day, I try to ride this.

Making stem

I forgot taking photos, I'm very sorry.

These are today's last shots.

I cut the stem to hold the handle. Then I tapped the one which is welded to the front part with M6 tap. And drilled the other one to pass thorough M6 bolt.
Next task is making stay for v brakes.

Making steering part

This is a stem.

I tacked it and took it to my friend's garage Fuuden to solder.

Before that, I welded a neck to front part.

My welding looks better.

Fuuden's owner soldered the stem.

Done.

After going back to home, I made handle.

PP belt for seat

I'm going you try to use PP belt for seat.
Canvas sheet isn't bad. But eyelet can't keep to hold the cloth.
PP belt which thickness is 1.6 mm and width is 30 mm can support by 90 kg. The weakness is the sun light.

It looks cool.

Next task is the handle.

Attaching seat

I welded some small parts to attach the seat to main tube.



Welding isn't easy.



The other small parts were welded to seat, too.

Some more small parts are needed to fix the seat.
