attaching seat

Today is the second day to work at my friend's factory.
We attached the seat to the python.
 The seat attaches to the python with triangle parts made from pipe which the diameter 10 mm. we have to cut the pipe to fit to the rectangular body. Yesterday, we had the problem. the cutting is very hard. However, after one night, we could get the solution.
 At first, 3 pipes are cut and the 2 of them have slit to bend. then bended parts are welded to the another pipe to adjust the angle.
 Then, made the part is putted on the body, and marked the parallel to the surface of the body. this time, we used masking tape. then it is cut along the line.
 after that, the welding to fix is started.
 How nice welding !
 Then the part is putted on the body and welded.
 The welding is well done.
 This is large version.
 The edges are welded to the dropouts.
 The other edges are welded to the top of rear fork.
 It looks like japanese shrine's gate.
 The master is welding the last triangle part.
 They are fenders which were made by myself. The master taught me the way. The both edges were bend.
 more one stay is welded. it works to attach the fender.
Today's final shot. it looks like the python made by Dirk Bonne. The construction is made from rectangular and round pipe.
Tomorrow's work will be for fender and handle for steering.

making seat

My making new bike is moved to my friend's factory named Fuuden.
Because My skill is poor to make better seat. So I need his working.
 Mainly the master worked.
 making seat took just for a half day.
 The thickness of iron plate is 1 mm. but the master says the stiff is enough.
 His handy grinder does not have guard. it isn't safe.
 He doesn't like noise of grinder. so he needs ear pads. But He likes making something from iron very very much.
 The thickness is also 1 mm. but the both sides have walls. They inclease stiffness.
 His nose is red. But He doesn't drink. We are thinking the way to attach the seat to the body of bike.
His working is very speedy and his concentration is high and long. I think that He is talented to make something.

welding front part 5

I welded a part of handle. Before that, I finished welding cage.
 The front tire is kept out from Rider's legs. and it supports to stand up and get off from the bike.
 I gave two ideas about the ways to attach handle from Fuuden's master. Then I got new idea by mixed them and mine. Ordinally the diameter of the handle is 22.2 mm.
Then I cut 28.8 mm's for grabing handle.
 And I cut rectangular 25 x 12 mm. It works to support the pipe to grab handle.
 They were cut almost at the centers.
 Then they were welded like this.
 Then it was welded to the front part. to attach the handle, we use U bolts.
The rubber sheet which thickness is 3 mm will be wind around the handle. In that case the diameter of outside of the handle and the diameter of inside of the attaching part will be matched.

welding front part 4

I made a pole to attache front derailleur. and cage for tire.
 The pole to attache front derailleur is made from 2 kinds of pipe which the diameters are 10 and 31.8 mm. Basically it is from just one pipe which the diameter 31.8 mm. This combination way is from Mike's python. But the idea is more flexible.
I made two slit to the bigger pipe to welding.
 Then sanding. Smooth finish is needed to attach front derailleur.
 It was attache to the BB shell. the front derailleur Sora FD-3400 made by shimano allows the angle is 61-66 degrees. I set it at 64 degrees. The grade is for biginner of riding road bike.
 Nice ! The smaller pipe wasn't welded at the center of the BB shell. but the bigger one's center is match to the center of the BB shell.
I forgot taking photos about making cage for tire.
Maybe next contribution, I will wrote about it.

welding front part 3

I have welding front part.
 It needs to keep same distance of the frame and dropouts.
 my bad welding.
 Then the front frame has angle toward of the upper.
 welded. It's hard to see the angle.....
 I'm making a part to attach BBshell to the front nose. The thread is M6.
It was welded to BB shell. The BB shell has caps to avoid shrink by welding.

welding front part 2

I have welded the front part.
 The front nose was welded.
 This is a part of pivot. it needs angle.
 I cut too much. so I needed to cover the space.
 Did ! I often have mistakes. so I trained get some repairing ways.
 Dropouts for the front. Ordinally they are used for the rear. But the python lowracer is front drive. In this case they are used for the front.
 They are cut partially to fit the front frame.

Then they are welded.

welding front part

I have started welding the front part.
 the spacer is needed to keep the distance for the wheel.
 These parts are very hard for me. I have never learned welding. that's needed for me ?
 same way to connect with rear part.
 welded.
 off course like these parts are also hard for me.
very dirty work !! I need Tig welding machine if i get beautiful welding.
I used the rod for arc welding. the diameter is 1.6 mm. because the thickness of rectangular's wall is 1.6 mm.
If I use 1.4 mm rod, I will be able to get beauty welding ?
I don't have no idea.
